Sara came out to Boston for my graduation from NEC in 1998. This was the night of the Commencement Concert where I performed a duet with bassist and fellow graduate, Mark Alexander. It's a good thing I didn't know that saxophonist Benny Carter (who was receiving an honorary doctorate the next day) was in attendance. I only found out afterwards when he made a point of greeting me and telling me that I did impossible things with my voice. He will be missed.
